　　在风景如画的武陵山区深处，有一个古老的渡口。渡口不远处住着一户田姓人家。为了遵守祖上的一个承诺，田家子孙三代人，120年来“不收一文钱”，靠着一条木船，在大沙河边为村民摆渡。

　　大沙河一条河水把村子分为两半，河岸两边的村民无论是要过河办事还是务农，坐渡口的木船过河是他们唯一的选择。一天, 田传杰打工请假回来看望有病的父亲,对父亲常年坚持摆渡很不理解，他不明白田怀恩工作的意义和价值，田怀恩只是简单地告诉田传杰，当年田传杰的太爷爷逃难来到这里，村里的人收留了田家，田家为了报恩，决定为村民义务摆渡，从此这就成了一个祖上的规矩，世代传了下来。传杰真正意识到了父亲工作的意义，二人都知道田家的义渡故事还将在大沙河边续写下去。

　　Deep in the beautiful Wuling Mountains，there is an old ferry. A family named Tian lives in the vicinity of the ferry. To keep a promise made by their ancestors, three generations of the Tian family have helped people cross the Dasha River without charging a single penny over 120 years. The family volunteers to use a wooden boat to ferry the villagers across the river.

　　The Dasha River divides the village into two. When the villagers need to farm or handle affairs across the river, the ferry is their only choice.

　　One day, Tian Chuanjie took a leave from his job to visit his sick father. He could neither understand the reason why his father keeps to ferrying, nor understand the meaning and value of this voluntary act. Tian Chuanjie's father simply told him, that year when Tian Chuanjie’s great grandfather fled to this place, it was the villagers that accepted the Tian family into this village. To show their gratitude, the Tian family started providing free ferry rides for people to cross the river, which has later become an entrenched rule passed on through generations of the family.

　　Tian Chuanjie has realized the significance behind the ferry. Both he and his father know that their family will continue to provide free ferry rides for people to cross the Dasha River.
