　　壮士王彦章孔武有力，因避祸在黄河边摆渡。当他闻听打虎将李存孝要打此经过，有心与之比武，决一高下。二勇士相遇在河岸，较力以对。李存孝寻得空当，将寻衅的王彦章打落水中，继续赶路。王彦章出水后，李存孝已走远。他甚觉窝囊，很不服气，抄小路再去拦截。又见面，李存孝撅弯铁篙、拉长铁棍，力盖王彦章，使其心服。二人遂攒土为香，结拜金兰，各赴疆场。

　　Wang Yanzhang, a strong man, provides ferry service along the Yellow River to avoid calamity. Hearing that Li Cunxiao, a tiger fighter, was about to pass by the area, Wang Yanzhang was ready to duke it out with him. The two warriors met on the bank of the river, fighting against each other. Li Cunxiao spotted a favorable chance and jumped at it, knocked aggressive Wang Yanzhang into the water, and continued on his way. By the time when Wang Yanzhang got out of the water, Li Cunxiao had already gone far. He felt very humiliated and unconvinced, so he took a shortcut to intercept Li. When the two met again, Li Cunxiao bent the iron pole and pulled the iron bar, getting an upper hand in the fight against Wang Yanzhang, thus convincing Wang of the result of their fight. The two then grabbed some soil and used it as incense, in front of which they became sworn brothers, and went to the battlefield.
