湖北省文学艺术界联合会，简称省文联。是中国共产党领导下的湖北省各文艺家协会、各市(含省直管市)州文联和产(行)业文联(文协)及其他全省性文艺社团组成的人民团体，是党和政府联系文艺家和广大文艺工作者的桥梁和纽带，是繁荣发展社会主义文艺事业、建设社会主义先进文化的重要力量。湖北省文联作为团体会员加入中国文联。

　　省文联成立50多年来，在几代文艺家的共同努力下，硕果累累，佳作纷呈，人才辈出。省文联原主席姚雪垠的长篇历史小说《李自成》(第二卷)获首届茅盾文学奖，原副主席徐迟的报告文学《哥德巴赫猜想》轰动全国，获全国优秀报告文学奖;原主席周韶华的《大河寻源》组画被著名美学家王朝闻称为”造型性的黄河大合唱”;近几年省文联组织评选推荐的《山路十八弯》、《三峡，我的家乡》、《三峡的孩子爱三峡》、《我从三峡来》、《家和万事兴》等歌曲均夺得中宣部”五个一工程”奖;还有一批省文联的文艺家分别获得中宣部”五个一工程”奖、湖北省屈原文艺创作奖等权威奖项，为繁荣文艺，建设社会主义先进文化作出了积极贡献。

　　Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles (hereinafter referred to as “HPFLAC”) , a social organization established under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is composed of literature and art associations in Hubei Province, literary federations of cities (including county-level cities directly under the jurisdiction of Hubei Provincial Government) and autonomous prefectures, industrial (sector-level) literary federations (literature and art associations), and other provincial literary and artistic societies. As the bridge and bond linking the CPC and the government with the literati, artists and the broad masses of literary and art workers, HPFLAC, the member of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, is injecting strong vitality for the prosperous development of literature and art cause and advanced culture in the context of socialism.

　　Due to joint efforts by generations of literature and art workers over the past 50 years, HPFLAC has given birth to fruitful results, numerous excellent works and outstanding talents. Li Zicheng (Volume II), a full-length historical novel by Yao Xueyin, the former chairman of HPFLAC, received the Mao Dun Literary Prize in 1982; Goldbach’s Conjecture, the reportage by Xu Chi (the former deputy chairman of HPFLAC), made a sensation throughout China and received the National Excellent Reportage Award; Origin of the River, a series of paintings created by Zhou Shaohua (the former chairman of HPFLAC), was reputed by the famous aesthetician Wang Zhaowen as the “Formative Yellow River Chorus”. Furthermore, songs such as the Eighteen Curves of Hill Path, Three Gorges is My Hometown, Children of the Three Gorges Love Three Gorges, I Come from the Three Gorges, and Harmony Brings Prosperity won the “Five-One Project” Award established by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. Besides, a number of literature and art workers of HPFLAC received many official awards including the “Five-One Project” Award and the Qu Yuan Award for Literary and Art Creations in Hubei Province. They have made positive contributions to the prosperity of literature and art cause and the development of advanced socialist culture.
