　　Shuowen Jiezi(literally: "Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters"), which was compiled by Xu Shen, a fundamental classicist and philologist in the Eastern Han Dynasty, is the first comprehensive dictionary of Chinese characters that systematically analyzes the structure of Chinese characters with their origins. It preserves the form, sound, and meaning of Chinese characters, as well as the materials for studying ancient social history, culture and other aspects, which is an important stepping stone for us to organize our great cultural heritage. The Cultural Interpretation of Shuowen Jiezi interprets the traditional Chinese system and logical thinking as well as the ancient Chinese society, aesthetic appreciation, and mythological thought reflected in the meaning of the characters from the aspects of the classification, explanation, imagery, and phonology of Shuowen Jiezi.
