　　选录自盛唐至清末词一千二百余阕。书的前言评述历代词的发展概况，为简要词史。作者系有小传，简述生平，间亦论及词作内容风貌。注释要在解释典故成语，说明本事，注解难词。部分作品附有星评，评说不拘一格，相当于一般词话。

　　More than 1,200 Ci poems from the prosperous Tang dynasty to the late Qing dynasty were selected into the book. The preface of the book is a review of the development of Ci poems through the ages, which represents a brief history of Ci poetry. In the book, there is a profile of the creator of each Ci poem, giving a brief account of his/her life and the content and style of his/her Ci poems. Annotations serve to explain allusions, idioms, difficult words, and the basic facts on which the Ci poem(s) were created. Some of the Ci poems are accompanied by star reviews, which are eclectic and correspond to criticism on Ci Poetry.
